 President Biden has signed more than three times as many executive orders pertaining to immigration in his first 100 days as


his Republican predecessor Donald Trump during the same period, according to a new analysis by the Migration Policy Institute.

As of Tuesday, Biden had issued 94 executive actions related to immigration while Trump had issued fewer than 30 such actions at the same point in his presidency.

MPI noted that Biden’s actions on immigration have reversed previous Trump administration policies and taken steps to make the immigration system "more welcome."

Those actions have already yielded results, particularly at the U.S.-Mexico border.

"ICE arrests have decreased by more than 60%, from an average of 6,800 monthly arrests in the last three full months of the Trump administration to 2,500 in February, Biden's first full month in office. For comparison, by Trump's first full month in office, ICE arrests increased by 26% over the average of the last three full months of the Obama administration," MPI noted.

The analysis comes on the heels of a new Fox News poll that found one-third of Americans say border security is worse under Biden than under Trump.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris, who Biden tapped to oversee the border crisis, has not yet visited the border, citing COVID-19 as the reason. She has, however, traveled to several other states, including Illinois, where she stopped at a bakery in Chicago. 

White House press secretary Jen Psaki got snippy with a reporter who questioned why the vice president had time to visit a sweets shop amid the lingering border crisis she has been asked to deal with. Psaki shot back that Harris was visiting Chicago to discuss COVID and the accessibility of the vaccine.

"And so, while she was there, like many Americans, she got a snack. I think she’s allowed to do that," Psaki said. "But she was there to talk about COVID and play a role as she's playing a significant role in our efforts to address vaccine hesitancy, communicate with the public about how we can do this and it’s imperative to get the vaccine when it’s available."

Former White House press secretary and Fox News contributor Kayleigh McEnany called Harris’ reason for not yet visiting the southern border a "lame excuse."

A Chinese foreign minister said Monday that Beijing is prepared to engage in "candid communication" with the U.S., but wants Washington to stop interfering with its internal affairs, a report said.

Trump hiked tariffs on Chinese imports in 2017 and imposed bans and other restrictions on Chinese tech companies and academic exchanges as he sought to address concerns about an imbalance in trade and accusations of Chinese theft of American technology.

Biden just recently had a phone call with President Xi Jinping and said his counterpart was focused on maintaining a "united, tightly controlled" China.

Reuters reported that Wang Yi, the senior Chinese diplomat, spoke at a forum in Beijing and said there were obvious mutual topics of interest for both countries, ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic to climate change. He said that he hoped the Biden administration considers removing tariffs and avoids entanglement in its affairs with Taiwan.

But as president of the U.S., Biden said during a CNN town hall event in Milwaukee, he has to speak out against Beijing’s aggression in Hong Kong, "what’s he’s doing with the Uighurs in the western mountains of China," and Taiwan. Biden said Xi understands that.

Wang told diplomats, scholars, and journalists at the Lanting Forum, "We hope that the U.S. policymakers will keep pace with the times, see clearly the trend of the world, abandon biases, give up unwarranted suspicions and move to bring the China policy back to reason to ensure healthy, steady development of China-U.S. relations

What's New in SketchUp 2021



The red SketchUp logo served us well since 2012. (Do you remember the logo before then?) We're moving forward with new marks for SketchUp and its application suite. This means new application icons for SketchUp, LayOut, 3D Warehouse, Extension Warehouse, and Style Builder, as well as a few modified toolbar icons. These new marks align SketchUp to the broader portfolio of Trimble products and… they can be modeled in SketchUp!

Under the hood: a re-built.SKP

SketchUp 2021 brings to light a significant under-the-hood improvement: a re-build of the.SKP file format. You are likely to notice a significant reduction in file sizes when saving models to the new format, and we're excited about additional workflow improvements this new file format will unlock going forward.

Direct download updates

As we are releasing more frequent updates to SketchUp, we want to make it easier for people to access the improvements we make between 'major' versions. In this release, we are introducing a direct download update. This means that the next time there is a new version available, you can use this update service to automatically download the proper language version. When an update is available, you'll receive a notification in SketchUp. You can initialize the direct download update at that moment, or defer to a later date. After downloading an update, you will be prompted to save and close existing files so that SketchUp can shut down. From there, you can install the update to the desired location on your computer.

  • Added a new validity check when an invalid font is used for a dimension.
  • Added a fix to set the north direction to the green axis when model error checking finds the north direction is invalid.
  • Fixed an issue where some glued mirrored components were incorrectly displaced after fixing model problems.
  • Enabled a new validity check when some invalid component relationships are found/fixed.
  • (Mac) Fixed an issue where the option to Undo Check Validity was not available after the validity check that occurs when opening a model.
